I believe if they got rid of disfellowshipping the numbers would increase.
Most folks that get disfellowship never learn the truth about the truth, so
in their mind it's the truth. If I was never shunned I would be a JW today.

I preyed, Jehovah help me to deal with all the creditors that is bugging us.
Help them(creditors) to understand I'am doing your work, help me
to appreciate my meager income and the lifestyle of the GB. And please Jehovah
